Halloween is a perfect opportunity to try your hand at some creative baking. So here are some Halloween food ideas to bring the spooky to your table.
Halloween Recipes:
Orange Hot Chocolate with Spooky Mallows.
For Halloween drinks, hot chocolate is a classic. Conjuring images of cosy evenings, the first frost. For this recipe we have used orange syrup, but you can use other flavours, such as pumpkin spice, or toffee.
Ingredients:
- Luxury Dark Chocolate Micro Chips
- Milk (or milk alternative)
- Toschi Mandarin Orange Syrup
- Squirty Cream
- Deluxe Marshmallows
Method:
- Measure out enough milk to fill your favourite mug, with a splash extra for evaporation, and bring to a low boil (about 65-70 degrees).
- Once hot, mix in 2–3 spoons of dark microchips and stir until combined and the chocolate has all melted.
- Add 20 ml of Mandarin Orange Syrup (adjust to taste if you prefer a stronger or milder flavour). And top with squirty cream.
- Use a little melted chocolate on a cocktail stick to draw spooky faces on your marshmallows and pop on top.
BOO! Bark:
Boo! Bark is perfect for a Halloween treat with minimal effort. You can also make it extra spooky with different decorations. Adding candy corn or making the layers of chocolate look like spider webs, can add a spooky touch.
Ingredients:
- 300g Luxury Milk Chocolate
- 150g Luxury White Chocolate
- Mini marshmallows
- Spooky sprinkles
Method:
- Melt and temper your milk and white chocolate in separate bowls.
- Spread your melted milk chocolate out on a tray or silicon matt. Then swirl the white chocolate over the top, creating patterns on your milk chocolate. Let the chocolate cool slightly, then top with your mini marshmallows and spooky sprinkles.
- Leave to set hard, then snap into different sized shards.
- You can colour the white chocolate to make it extra spooky. Gel or powder colours work best for this, using a liquid colour can cause your chocolate to seize.
Swamp Things Bath Water
This super simple Halloween cocktail recipe is sure to have your guests cringing at the name. But the flavour will keep them coming back for more. Don't be afraid to add more kiwi or vodka, depending on how strong you want your drinks.

- Vodka
- Kiwi Puree
- Simple syrup (sugar syrup)
- Ice
Method:
- Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add 4oz of vodka, a splash of simple syrup and 2oz of kiwi purée.
- Seal and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds. Making sure everything is well combined and icy cold.
- Strain into cocktail glasses and serve.
Trick or Treat Cake
For this spookily good Halloween cake, you can either use a premade cake or make one using your favourite recipe. We recommend a 10-inch sponge, but it does depend on the number of guests.
Ingredients:
- Sponge cake of your choice.
- Vela Milk Chocolate Spread.
- Selection of Halloween sweets, around 500g. (See what we have available here: Pick & Mix Sweets)
Method:
- Fill and coat your cake with the milk chocolate spread, making a nice even coat.
- Place your sweets on top of the cake, with some around the edges, until you have a good-looking pile.
- Plate and display in the centre of your Halloween table.
